The Libertarian Party of Utah today announced that it, along with the national Libertarian Party and the Advocates for Self-Government, has had record-breaking numbers of people taking their famous "World's Smallest Political Quiz."
The Quiz, available on the Libertarian Party of Utah's website (LPUtah.org) via the Advocates for Self-Government, gauges where in the political spectrum a person lies by asking key questions about that person's political beliefs.
Usually, during an election year, there is a "bump" in the number of Quiz takers both locally and nationally. "But this year," says Advocates for Self-Government President Sharon Harris, "the bump is an earthquake!"
In July of this year, for instance, about 4,500 people per day took the Quiz nationally. That number is now at 14,000 per day and climbing.
In the past three months, over 700,000 people have taken the Quiz.
While no numbers are available for Utah only, Libertarian Party of Utah Chair Fran Tully believes that Utah accounts for a good portion of those Quiz takers.
"We have been working our 'Politically Homeless' Booths, have had candidates including the Quiz on their fliers and handouts, and have had several outreach programs this voting year to inform people about the Libertarian Party. One of the tools we use to show people where they stand politically is The World's Smallest Political Quiz."
The Quiz can be taken online via the Libertarian Party of Utah's website: LPUtah.org or on paper at various Libertarian Party outreach events, such as the upcoming Salt Lake County "Meet and Greet" scheduled for this Thursday, the 28th.
